Pennsylvania Fall Foliage Prediction Map

Although nobody truly knows when the exact dates of peak fall foliage will be, we can assume that peak colors will hit the Pittsburgh area in mid October, around October 9-16, 2024. Mid October is the perfect time to continue your family's annual Halloween traditions in the crisp, autumn temperatures. As many of our campers, know, our Western Pennsylvania campground offers gorgeous views of the fall foliage, but it's also important to explore the surrounding areas for even more photo opportunities! We roped together a few places we recommend for scenic views of the fall colors below:

McConnells Mills State Park

McConnells Mill State Park is best known for their covered bridge which serves as a landmark for the park and is one of the most beautiful bridges in the state. The park's namesake, the McConnells Mill, sits right across from the bridge and dates back to 1868. The park has plenty of other small waterfalls all around to enjoy - making this a great thing to do in Butler, PA! If you want to spend the day exploring nature and soaking in the beautiful fall colors of Western PA, this park has it all.

Three Rivers Heritage Trail

Discover the charm of Pittsburgh's riverfronts with the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. Stretching along the banks of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio rivers, this trail offers a mix of urban and natural scenery, making it an accessible and enjoyable option for all - especially in the fall! Drive an hour to spend the day in Pittsburgh and venture out to this recreational area before heading back to Jellystone Park™ Kozy Rest for an evening of fun!

Fern Hollow Nature Center

For a tranquil and accessible hike, Fern Hollow Nature Center beckons with a gentle 2.5-mile loop. The easy difficulty level makes it perfect for nature enthusiasts of all ages, providing a serene escape into the heart of Western Pennsylvania's natural fall beauty.
